How do I extract frames from a video?

Select your desired analysis mode (Smart Scene Detection or a fixed time interval like every 5 seconds), and click Start Scene Analysis. The engine scans the video, selects representative frames, and displays them on a visual timeline ready for 1-click download.
Can I extract images every five seconds?
Yes! Switch the analysis mode from Smart Scene Detection to Fixed Interval Extraction and choose Every 5 Seconds from the dropdown. The engine will sample the video precisely every 5.0 seconds and extract the clearest frame at each point.
Which video formats are supported?
VidZova supports browser-decodable video formats including MP4 (H.264 / AAC), WebM (VP8 / VP9), MOV (QuickTime), and MKV with file sizes up to 500 MB.
Can I download all frames together?
Yes. VidZova includes a Download All Frames (ZIP) feature that compiles all extracted scene images into a single ZIP archive. It also includes a manifest.json, a readable manifest.txt, and a CSV spreadsheet detailing each scene's start time and resolution.
Is my video uploaded to a server?
No! By default, VidZova uses hardware-accelerated client-side video decoding and HTML5 canvas processing directly inside your browser. Your video files remain completely private on your device and are never uploaded or stored on any server.
Can I use this tool for long videos?
Yes. The memory-efficient canvas frame extractor can process videos from short clips up to multi-hour movies. You can configure sensitivity and set maximum frame caps (e.g. 50 or 100 frames) to maintain fast performance.
Does scene detection use AI?
Standard scene detection does not require AI—it uses mathematical pixel difference algorithms, color histogram transitions, and Laplacian sharpness variance. Optionally, users can click Analyze Scenes with AI to send select frames to an OpenAI vision model for automated visual descriptions and tagging.
